Michael Rechenthin, PhD joins Tony Battista and Pete Mulmat in the studio to talk about Corporate Bonds. Through a series of graphics he makes sense of a complicated topic.
The first graphic explores the relationship between maturities and volatilities -- longer maturities see more volatility. Corporate bonds are a bit more complicated due to the level of risk involved. Instead of just time until maturity, the grade of debt (either "investment" or "junk") affects the yield.
Another graphic then shows the relationship between monthly 10 year yields and Treasuries (TLT). While TLT has a strong negative relationship between yields and price, HYG has had very little correlation.
