Should we trade strangles or iron condors when IV is high/low? This segment answers this question. Anton goes through an intensive backtest involving strangles and varying width iron condors and he finds that when IV is low, it may be wise to trade iron condors as opposed to strangles because of larger risk for outlier moves. In high IV environments, you get paid significantly more for a strangle and therefore we lean towards trade them as opposed to iron condors.
