We know that managing a winning options trade can increase our win rate and overall profitability. However due to the different nature of each strategy, winners should be taken based off of the amount of max profit the position is showing and the amount of time remaining until expiration.

Today, Tom Sosnoff and Tony Battista look at the optimal time manage a naked option based on the time remaining until expiration and the amount of max profit the position is showing. The guys find out that whether you are looking at calls or puts, if you are able to reach 50% of max profit in 14 Days, you should close the position. This means that you will realize a profit of 50% in only 31% of the time!
