The rise in volatility across other markets has not coincided with more volatility for gold.

Additionally, the correlation between stocks and gold has been both negative and positive this year depending on the month. This may come as a surprise to the conventional wisdom that gold is negatively correlated to equities.

Bond prices, however, are much more correlated with gold that stocks are with gold.

Gold is currently one of the only markets actually declining in volatility as it becomes tougher and tougher to trade, and for those wanting to trade it, we may have to wait for significant changes to stocks or interest rates.
