With VIX above 15%, I’ll be looking to see if some liquid, actively traded products have higher implied volatility and implied volatility ranks, too. Whether you’re bullish or bearish, higher volatility means you have more flexibility in choosing strategies.
--IYR the real estate ETF has an IV rank around 90% as its price has dropped. Short puts or a jade lizard would work as a contrarian bullish trade.
--The June July basis in /VX futures is trading for about 1.00. I’m rolling some of my June futures to July at this level.
--July SPY puts 1 standard deviation OTM are trading for just over 1.00. Could be a good short for a strategic long index fund replacement.
