Tony Battista started his career in options and futures trading in 1983, as an independent Market Maker at the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE). He also worked as a local independent trader at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT), where he traded the 30-year bond future. While primarily an independent trader in the S&P 100 Index (OEX, XEO) pit, Battista spent three years in the AOL equity pit. He also served on the CBOE arbitration committee for over 10 years, ruling on disputes between traders and trading firms, prior to joining thinkorswim. He absolutely loves co-hosting tastytrade LIVE! with Tom Sosnoff on the tastytrade network... the #1 ranked financial program on the internet!

Can you invest and still have a full time job, and do I need expertise to do well at options trading? My answer is yes, you can invest if you have a full time job...just learn as much as you can.

Any liquid ETF, the usual equity suspects - $AAPL, $TWTR, $TSLA, $USO. I trade 80% options, 19% futures, 1% stock...stock takes way too much capital.
No, never. I’m used to doing live shows onstage, so all of that was good practice for what I do now. But I always knew my subject, so stage fright was never an issue for me.
I love working with friends that I've had for over 30 years. I also like that I have a big megaphone, with the opportunity to speak in front of tens of thousands of people everyday. I get to show my personality (not that that’s necessarily good!) but I think people learn a lot from what we do, so that makes me happy.
And there’s no sale; we don’t charge for anything at tastytrade...which makes it the greatest non-sales job ever. People might be nervous to start trading, especially if they haven't done it before. But they see me doing it for free, and maybe after awhile they'll start, or someday tell someone else or come back and open a brokerage account. It’s a great business model, so it’s an easy sale. All I really want is for people to learn.
