Jermal Chandler is host of Engineering the Trade, a segment helping tastytraders get a sense of the way the market's moving and why. Additionally, he provides weekly trading insights on the Options Jive segment via tastytrade Live!
Before arriving at tastytrade in 2021, Jermal was educating investors on the utility of equity options as a Senior Instructor of Market Insights in the CBOE Options Institute. His career began at Peak6 Capital Management where he traded volatility arbitrage portfolios in the Dynamic Hedging group and in the Peak6 Advisors hedge fund over an eight year period. Jermal also spent time on the regulatory side of financial markets. He worked in the market regulation group at FINRA and as a regulatory investigator at the Chicago Board of Options Exchange (CBOE). Both appointments involved working with SPX and VIX market makers and brokers.
Prior to embarking on a career in options trading, Jermal served as a materials engineer and chemist. He worked at the world-renowned Applied Superconductivity Center where he fabricated BSCCO superconducting materials. He also worked at Forest Products Laboratory in Madison, Wisconsin, helping to create lignocellulosic polymer primers and resins.
Jermal has five published articles as an author and co-author.
